Barbra Streisand is a multi-talented personality with astonishing acting and singing talents. Though she liked singing since early childhood, she initially decided to concentrate on acting and made a stage debut in 1957, followed by her first Broadway performance in 1961.
In 1968, Barbra rose to prominence after playing in her debut movie, Funny Girl. She later starred in Hello, Dolly!, The Owl and the Pussycat, The Way We Were, A Star Is Born, Yentl, The Prince of Tides and The Mirror Has Two Faces. Moreover, she directed and produced the latter three films.
In 1963, the singer presented The Barbra Streisand album, which earned the gold certification immediately. To date, Barbra has released 36 studio albums, the most successful of which are A Christmas Album and Guilty as they both earned 5-time platinum certification.
Barbra Streisand earned various trophies for both acting and singing, including 10 Grammys, 2 Oscars, 5 Emmys and 9 Golden Globes. She also earned some special honors like National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Apart from her career, Barbra is a social and political activist. She is also a philanthropist who runs The Streisand Foundation. In 2009, the celebrity even sold a part of her arts and furniture collection at the auction to donate the money to her foundation.
In 1963, Streisand tied knots with Elliott Gould, a father of her only son Jason. However, their marriage was dissolved in 1971. Since 1998, the Hollywood legend has been successfully married to actor James Brolin. By the way, her both husbands starred together in 1978 movie Capricorn One.
A curious fact: Barbra adored her dog Samantha and after its death in 2017, she decided to clone it. As a result, she got three puppies, two of which she kept for herself while one was presented to her friend. Moreover, while waiting for the puppies she got one more dog of the same breed. So, now, Streisand is a happy owner of three dogs.
