Erica Schmidt is known for her theater work. Along with writing and directing plays, she is famed for being a spouse of performer Peter Dinklage.
While attending Vassar College, Erica joined Laughing Stock comedy group and proceeded with serving as a costume designer at Julliard. Initially, she wanted to be an actress and even played in the 2002 film Miles from Nowhere. Even so, she soon switched to behind-the-scenes work seeing no perspectives of her acting career.
Erica Schmidt got into the spotlight in 2000 thanks to directing As You Like It play and even earned the 2001 Princess Grace Award. She went on directing many other Off-Broadway plays, including Spanish Girl and A Month in the Country. By the way, the latter’s cast included Dinklage. Additionally, Erica wrote and directed All the Fine Boys.
Erica and Peter got romantically involved in the early 2000s. In 2004, the actor popped the question and espoused his sweetheart in Las Vegas on April 16, 2005. In 2011, their daughter, whose name was speculated to be Zelig, drew her first breath. In 2017, they became parents for the second time though the baby’s gender and name were kept secret.
Unlike many artists, Schmidt prefers a low-key living and never discloses the details of her private life. She isn’t active on social media and rarely visits public events though she makes exceptions to support her spouse at his movie premieres and awards ceremonies. For instance, at the 2011 Emmy, Erica witnessed Peter getting an award and confessing his love for her from the stage.
A curious fact: Peter calls Erica the main artist in the family and considers himself as an ordinary actor who pays the bills.
