O’Shea Jackson, who uses Ice Cube as his stage name, is known for being a man of many talents. Moreover, he is one of the founders of gangsta rap.
Jackson started his path to worldwide fame by being a member of N.W.A. band in 1987-1989 together with Arabian Prince, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren. In 1990, he presented the solo album AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted, which was certified platinum. It was followed by 9 more albums, including Death Certificate and The Predator. Besides, the artist collaborated with Mack 10 and WC to record 2 albums as Westside Connection group.
Ice Cube also deals with acting. He made a debut in 1991 movie Boyz n the Hood and proceeded with having parts in Trespass, Anaconda, Barbershop, Friday, All About the Benjamins, Are We There Yet, Ride Along plus XXX: State of the Union. Additionally, O’Shea dealt with the production of many of his films as well as wrote screenplays to some of them. He made his debut as a writer and a producer on Friday in 1995 and in 1998, he directed his first movie The Players Club.
Along with his career in the entertainment industry, Ice Cube is an entrepreneur. He runs Solo by Cube clothing line. In 2017, together with entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz, he established Big3, a 3-on-3 basketball league featuring retired NBA players.
On April 26, 1992, the artist tied knots with Kimberly Woodruff. In 1991, they welcomed their firstborn son O‘Shea. In a year, their son Darrell drew his first breath. The family was expanded by 2 more children: daughter Karima in 1994 and son Shareef in 1995.
A curious fact: Ice Cube had a backup plan if his rap career had failed. He might have been an architecture draftsman as he studied architectural drafting at the Phoenix Institute of Technology.
