Bio

John Slattery is most famed for his acting and directing talents. Hailing from Newton, Massachusetts, he was raised alongside five siblings, Ellen, Nan, Julie, Lee and Peter, by mother Joan Slattery (nee Mulhern), an accountant who passed away in 2017 because of heart failure, and father John Slattery, a leather merchant.

In 1988, Slattery first appeared on TV in Dirty Dozen: The Series and proceeded with starring in Homefront, Maggie, Jack & Bobby and Desperate Housewives. He achieved mainstream success thanks to portraying Roger Sterling in the Mad Men series, which won 2 SAG Awards for its outstanding cast. Besides, the performer played in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Veep, Mrs. America and neXt series.

John Slattery’s most successful movie roles include the ones in Mona Lisa Smile, Underdog, The Adjustment Bureau, In Our Nature, Bluebird, Spotlight and Churchill. He also portrayed Howard Stark in the Marvel movies. Additionally, John plays at theater and has some Broadway credits. In 2013, he directed and co-wrote God’s Pocket film.

On December 30, 1998, John got hitched to his colleague Talia Balsam in Hawaii. In 1999, their son Harry drew his first breath. The spouses enjoy working together and even portrayed a married couple in Mad Men. When Slattery is asked about the secret of their happy married life, he tells that he has been very lucky to find the right person.

A curious fact: in his free time, John loves skiing and surfing.
