Kate Norley is a military medic and an Iraq War veteran. She is also famed for being a spouse of TV host John Oliver.
Kate’s parents are Walt Norley, CEO at cloud platform OnLink and the managing partner at growth capital investment company The Norley Group, and Pamela Norley. She was raised alongside younger brother Nelson and sister Grace.
While studying at Episcopal High School in Arlington, VA, Kate Norley decided to join the US Army. Having got the necessary training in Texas, she served as a combat medic in Fallujah and Ramadi, Iraq, along with being a mental health consultant for soldiers. After returning to the United States, Kate became a veterans’ rights advocate and joined Vets for Freedom organization. Moreover, she got a medical degree at George Washington University.
Additionally, Norley has made an acting debut in short film Tran·si·tions.
Kate and John got acquainted at the Republican National Convention in 2008. The television star was working on a story for The Daily Show while Norley visited the event as a member of Vets for Freedom. The couple got engaged in July 2010 and tied knots in October 2011. In 2015, the spouses welcomed son Hudson, who was born prematurely. And in 2018, another baby boy named Marlowe became the newest addition to the family.
A curious fact: when she was 16, Kate was hit by a car and got a serious head trauma, which resulted in the loss of some cognitive abilities. The girl had to learn how to read and write anew.
