LaVar Ball is an entrepreneur and a media personality who is more famed as a father of basketball players Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball.
Ball played basketball and football in youth. He also studied criminal justice at college and aspired to be a U.S. Marshall. But things went another way. LaVar rose to fame in 2016 thanks to his bold statements and behavior. Along with praising his sons and talking about their fantastic skills, he is sure that they wouldn’t be where they’re at without him. Among the man’s most remembered phrases were that Lonzo is more talented than Stephen Curry and that he (LaVar) can beat Michael Jordan in a one-on-one game.
LaVar Ball is a co-founder of Big Baller Brand, a sports clothing and shoes brand, the major stake in which pertains to Lonzo. He also launched Gelo 3 shoes brand for another son, LiAngelo. In 2017, Ball established the Junior Basketball Association. Additionally, he starred in reality series about him and his close people, Ball in the Family. The man also frequently appears on other TV shows and you can even see him in an episode of Black-ish series.
In 1997, LaVar got hitched to Tina Slatinsky. They welcomed their firstborn son Lonzo the same year. He was followed by brothers LiAngelo and LaMelo, born in 1998 and 2001 respectively.
A curious fact: the names of LaVar’s brothers are LaFrance, LaValle, LaRenzo and LaShon. So, you see that it’s a family tradition that the boys’ names start from La. The man continued this tradition for his sons though he used only the first letter L.
