Marcus James Jordan is a son of Michael Jordan and his first spouse Juanita Vanoy. Having the same initials with his stellar dad, MJ, he was featured in his documentary The Last Dance.
Since his birth, Marcus was surrounded by luxury. He played PlayStation on a private jet but studied at a public middle school as his mom wanted him to stay grounded. Moreover, when coaches wanted Marcus and his brother Jeffrey to wear jerseys with number 23, Vanoy objected to that stating that she wanted her sons to make a name for themselves.
Jordan played basketball for Loyola Academy and Whitney Young High School in Chicago before joining University of Central Florida in 2009. Though his team had a deal with Adidas, freshman Marcus preferred wearing Nike Air Jordan shoes. As a result, the brand stopped collaborating with UCF.
In 2012, Marcus Jordan left Knights understanding that he didn’t want to pursue a professional career and concentrated on getting a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Administration and Management.
Today, Marcus is an owner of an online shoe store titled Trophy Room. It was initially a brick-and-mortar store at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, but later, the entrepreneur went to online sales only. By the way, the shop got its name after a room the Jordans had at their home. All the trophies of Michael and his kids were stored there and everyone was happy to add new accolades to the collection.
A curious fact: like any teenager, Marcus had some troubling times. For instance, in 2012, he was detained in Nebraska for creating a disturbance near a hotel while being intoxicated.
