Bio

Ermias Joseph Asghedom is more famed as Nipsey Hussle. In his teenage years, he was a part of Rollin 60’s Neighborhood Crips band. Ermias started his music career in 2005 by presenting his first mixtape Slauson Boy Volume 1.

Having established his record label All Money In, he recorded mixtapes The Marathon and The Marathon Continues. In 2012, Nipsey released a Raw album with Blanco but reached wider recognition thanks to Crenshaw mixtape. Even Jay-Z couldn’t stand the lure of buying 100 copies. In 2018, the rapper recorded debut album Victory Lap, which was certified platinum and brought him a Grammy nomination.

Moreover, Hussle collaborated with many other music stars. Thus, he contributed to Drake’s Killer and Snoop Dogg’s Upside Down. He also tried his hand at acting in I Tried and Caged Animal films along with appearing in an episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Nipsey Hussle was a businessman. He co-owned a Marathon Clothing store. Additionally, he dedicated much time to philanthropy and community activism. He launched a co-working environment aspiring to increase diversity in science and technology plus to promote black arts and culture.

Nipsey dated Tanisha Foster aka Chyna Hussle, a mother of his daughter Emani, who drew her first breath in 2008. In 2013, he got romantically involved with actress Lauren London. In 2016, they welcomed a son named Kross.

Unfortunately, Hussle’s life was very short. On March 31, 2019, the 33-year-old rapper was shot dead just in front of his clothing store in Los Angeles. His murderer is Eric Holder. The police said that the reason was a personal dispute as the two were noticed talking earlier that day.

Nipsey was so respected in his community that the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard was named Nipsey Hussle Square after his death.

A curious fact: the artist’s stage name was inspired by comic Nipsey Russell.
