Priscilla Chan is a doctor and philanthropist famed for being a spouse of Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg. Hailing from Braintree, Massachusetts, she was raised by Chinese-Vietnamese parents, Dennis and Yvonne, alongside sisters Michelle and Elaine.
Priscilla studied biology and Spanish at Harvard and proceeded with gaining a medical degree at University of California, San Francisco. She was a pediatrician at San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. And in 2015, she established Primary School in Palo Alto, a tuition-free private school.
Together with her husband, Priscilla runs the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. They donate money to various charities but concentrate on education, medical and environmental research.
Priscilla Chan got acquainted with Zuckerberg in November 2003 while standing in a line for the bathroom at a fraternity party at Harvard. In 2010, they moved in but made their relationship official on Facebook only in 2011. On May 19, 2012, the sweethearts got hitched in the garden of their California mansion. By the way, Mark designed the ring for his future spouse himself.
After suffering three miscarriages, Priscilla gave birth to the firstborn, daughter Maxima, in 2015. In 2017, the couple’s younger baby girl named August drew her first breath.
Before they became husband and wife, Zuckerberg formally promised to take Chan to weekly dates. Moreover, these two agreed to have a 2-week vacation abroad each year.
A curious fact: Mark is a very caring husband. After noticing that Priscilla constantly woke up in the night to check on their children, he built a sleep box for her so that the woman could better sleep at night. The device emits a soft light between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. and that means that it’s the time to wake up.
