Rakeem Christmas is a basketball player who is also famed for being a fiancé of Michael Jordan’s daughter Jasmine.
Rakeem was born in New Jersey to Ronald Christmas and Landra Hamid. At 2, he relocated to the Virgin Islands with his mom, but at 5, he suffered a big loss as Landra passed away of kidney failure, which happened due to lupus. Initially, Christmas was raised by his grandmother and at 13, he moved to his aunt Amira Hamid’s house in Philadelphia.
Having graduated from Academy of the New Church in Bryn Athyn, Rakeem Christmas became a student of Syracuse University to study communications and rhetorical studies. He joined their basketball team and played for four seasons, earning the Atlantic Coast Conference’s most improved player title and being selected to all-ACC first-team and defensive-team.
In 2015, Christmas was selected by Minnesota Timberwolves but was traded to Cleveland Cavaliers before joining Indiana Pacers. However, his NBA career was pretty short as he left the Pacers in 2017. Afterwards, the athlete represented Turkish club Galatasaray and proceeded with playing for New Zealand Breakers and Ormanspor. In 2020, he joined Puerto Rico’s team Mets de Guaynabo.
While studying and developing his basketball skills at Syracuse University, Rakeem got acquainted with Jasmine Jordan. They were best friends for several years and started dating only after graduation. In June 2018, Christmas popped the question and received a positive answer. In May 2019, the couple welcomed a baby boy named Rakeem Michael.
A curious fact: though Rakeem was very nervous at his first meeting with his future father-in-law Michael Jordan, the two befriended.
